Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
What is breast lift (mastopexy)
surgery?
In women, various factors can cause the ligaments that support breast tissue to loosen over time, resulting in a sagging appearance. This condition often occurs due to changes in weight, childbirth, breastfeeding, or the effects of gravity. Mastopexy, also known as breast lift surgery, is performed to restore a sagging breast to a more upright and fuller appearance. During this surgery, excess skin is usually removed, and the existing breast tissue is reshaped and lifted upwards. In cases where the patient lacks sufficient breast tissue, breast implants may also be used in addition to these procedures.
What is the surgical process like?
The operation is performed in a hospital operating room under general anesthesia. During mastopexy surgery, excess skin is removed, and the breast tissue is reshaped to reposition the nipple to its natural anatomical position. The surgery typically lasts 1-2 hours. Patients are usually hospitalized for one day after the operation, with discharge planned for the following day.
Is the surgical technique the same
for every patient?
Certainly, the same surgical technique cannot be used for every patient. The surgical technique is determined based on the degree of breast sagging and the decision of the doctor. Generally, three different techniques are used. Regardless of which of these three methods is applied, some scarring around the nipple is inevitable. In the first technique, there is only a scar around the nipple. This method is used in very limited cases. In the second technique, in addition to the scar around the nipple, there is a scar about 5 cm in length extending downwards from the lower edge of the nipple in a vertical direction. This method is commonly used. The third technique uses the inverted T incision method, which is generally used in cases where the degree of sagging is advanced. In addition to these methods, breast implants may be used to achieve volume in individuals who lack sufficient breast volume.
Does breast lift surgery leave
scars?
It is currently not possible to perform mastopexy surgery without leaving any scars. Usually, these scars are quite prominent in the first 3-4 months but may become less visible over time and eventually blend in with the skin tone. However, they never completely disappear.
What should be considered after the
surgery?
After the surgery, simple dressings are usually applied. These dressings should be changed correctly at the times determined by your doctor. You will likely be prescribed antibiotics to prevent infection, and it's important to take these medications as directed. There may be mild pain in the early stages, which can typically be managed with painkillers. Dissolvable sutures are used during the surgery, so there is no need to remove stitches. Depending on your doctor's preference, you may have drains after the surgery, which are usually removed after one or two days. Wearing a supportive bra or compression garment is highly recommended for the first 4 weeks to reduce discomfort and shape the breast. It is advised to avoid strenuous exercise for the first 2 months.
Which doctor should be consulted
for breast lift surgery?
It is recommended to consult plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgeons who have gained sufficient experience and expertise in these procedures during their specialty training.
Is breast lift surgery permanent?
After this surgery, there is no guarantee that sagging will never recur. Some degree of sagging may occur over time due to the effects of gravity. This tendency is more common and may happen earlier and to a greater extent in individuals with large implants or poor skin elasticity. However, it will never become as saggy as it was initially.
Does breast lift surgery affect
breastfeeding?
This surgery does not negatively affect breastfeeding. However, some changes in breast shape may occur after pregnancy and breastfeeding, necessitating revision.

BREAST REDUCTION
Some women may have disproportionately large breasts due to genetic factors, hormonal changes, or certain medical conditions. This condition can become even more problematic with fluctuations in weight and during breastfeeding. As breast tissue increases over time, the problem of large breasts becomes more prevalent, especially in middle and older age. Surgical procedures aimed at reducing oversized breasts are referred to as breast reduction surgery.
Who can undergo breast reduction
surgery?
The sagging caused by breast size can lead to back and neck pain in women. In some cases, it can cause poor posture and a hunched appearance. Pressure from a tight bra passing under the armpit can compress the nerves in the arm, leading to numbness. A decrease in chest cage volume can make breathing difficult. Friction between the breast skin and chest skin can result in rashes and sores under the breast. Daily life and physical activity may be restricted, and psychological problems such as lack of self-confidence can develop. Individuals who have one or more of these reasons are candidates for breast reduction surgery.
What is the surgical process like?
The operation is performed in a hospital operating room under general anesthesia. It typically lasts for about 2-4 hours. In breast reduction surgery, excess breast tissue is removed and reshaped to fit the patient's body proportions. Excess breast tissue and overlying skin are removed, and the nipple is repositioned to its anatomical position. Usually, one night's stay in the hospital is sufficient, and discharge can be planned for the next day. Sometimes, plastic tubes called drains, which prevent hematoma formation, may be used according to the surgeon's preference. The decision on when to remove them is made by the operating doctor, usually within 1-2 days.
What are the methods used in breast
reduction surgery?
The general principles of the methods used in this surgery are the same. All methods involve removing excess breast tissue and skin and reshaping them. Depending on the size of the patient's breasts, the technique may involve a lollipop incision around the nipple and extending downward or a T-shaped incision, which adds a horizontal incision at the breast fold to the lollipop incision.
When are the stitches removed after
breast reduction surgery?
In this surgery, dissolvable sutures are typically used, and there is no need to remove stitches after the procedure.
Who performs breast reduction
surgery?
Plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgeons who have received training in these procedures during their specialty training perform these surgeries.
What should be considered after the
operation?
It is recommended to rest for about a week after the operation. A compression bra is worn immediately after surgery and should be worn for one month. The compression bra is important for reducing pain, preventing hematoma formation, and shaping the breast. After one month, a sports bra should be worn for another month. After a total of two months, gradually transitioning to normal bra usage is advised. It is crucial to take antibiotics as prescribed to prevent infection and to perform wound care correctly and timely.
When can one start going to the gym
after breast reduction surgery?
Light walking is recommended after surgery as it aids in recovery. However, heavy exercises should be avoided for two months.
Can breastfeeding be done after
breast reduction surgery?
In most cases, breast tissue is reduced using techniques that preserve milk ducts. Thus, the patient's nipple sensation is preserved, and the ability to breastfeed after a possible pregnancy is not affected. However, in very advanced cases of large and sagging breasts, it may not be possible to apply techniques that preserve milk ducts.
Will there be scars after breast
reduction surgery?
As with any surgery, scars are most prominent in the early stages. On average, they become less noticeable after 3-4 months and approximate the normal skin tone. However, they never completely disappear.
Does breast reduction surgery cause
cancer?
Before this surgery, ultrasound is recommended for patients under 40 years old, and ultrasound and mammography are recommended for patients over 40 years old. Suspected cases may be identified at this stage. After the surgery, the removed tissues are usually sent for pathological examination. Hidden cases that were missed during imaging can be detected. The surgery itself does not cause cancer. In fact, reducing the existing tissue load reduces the risk of cancer.

BREAST AUGMENTATION
The breast is one of the most important structures that complete the external appearance of the female gender. When the breast volume is small, the body shape may not be considered sufficient. Breast size can be small due to various reasons, both structural and external. Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure performed to increase the volume of the breast beyond its natural size. The most commonly used method for this purpose is breast augmentation surgery using breast implants. Additionally, breast volume can be increased using the patient's own tissues, typically using fat tissue. However, fat grafting may not be permanent as the transferred fat can be reabsorbed in varying proportions over time. Alternatively, these two methods can be combined to perform breast augmentation surgeries.
It is not necessary for the two breast sizes in humans to be exactly the same. There can be small or large asymmetries. If the procedure to equalize the sizes of both breasts is to be performed by increasing breast volume, the most commonly used method today is breast augmentation surgery with breast implants (silicone implants).
What is a breast implant (silicone
implant)?
Breast implants are substances used to shape the breast, consisting of an outer shell containing silicone or polyurethane, filled with silicone gel or saline solution. They come in various sizes depending on their height and diameter. There are two different types based on their shape: teardrop and round. The teardrop model, also known as the anatomical model, resembles the normal breast shape more closely because it is more filled in the lower pole than the upper pole. In the round model, both the lower and upper poles are filled similarly. The choice is generally made based on the patient's desires. If the patient wants more pronounced lower pole fullness and a more natural appearance, the teardrop-shaped implant is chosen. However, if increased cleavage and upper pole fullness are desired along with breast volume increase, the round implant is preferred. Additionally, implants can be smooth or textured on their surfaces. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages compared to the other.
What should be done before the
operation?
Before the operation, certain radiological tests may be necessary depending on the patient's age. If the patient is under 40 years old, evaluation with only breast ultrasound before surgery will be sufficient. However, if the patient is over 40 years old, evaluation with mammography in addition to breast ultrasound will be necessary.
What is the surgical process like?
The operation is performed under general anesthesia in an operating room. It typically lasts for about 1.5-2 hours. Typically, an overnight hospital stay is recommended after the operation.
There are different incision options for the operation. Implants can be placed through an incision made along the border of the dark and light skin of the nipple areola complex. In this type of incision, the scar is less prominent after surgery, but the risk of infection is higher, and therefore, the risk of capsular contracture is more prominent compared to other incision types. Implants can also be placed through an incision under the armpit. In this incision type, there is no incision on the breast, and the scar remains under the armpit. However, in this surgical method, the chest muscles can be traumatized during implant placement, and pain may persist for a long time after surgery. Implants can also be placed through an incision made in the navel. However, this technique is not commonly preferred. Breast implants are most commonly placed through an incision in the inframammary fold. A 4-5 cm incision is made in the inframammary fold. The scar is not visible when viewed from the front. Over time, the scar becomes indistinct. Depending on the patient's breast tissue structure and thickness, the implant can be placed behind the breast tissue, behind the chest muscle, under the fascia of the chest muscle, or in a dual plane.
What is the post-operative process
like?
Dissolvable sutures are generally
preferred in breast augmentation surgeries, and there is no need to remove
stitches. In the early postoperative period, there may be swelling in the
breasts, sometimes increased or decreased sensitivity in the nipples, and
numbness. Typically, discharge is planned for the first day after surgery, and
normal activities can be resumed within 3-4 days after surgery. Patients are
usually instructed to wear a compression bra for 1 month after surgery. Within
2-3 weeks after surgery, the implants settle into place, and the breasts regain
their normal function. Patients are advised not to engage in heavy exercise for
2 months and to avoid sleeping on their stomach.
When does the shape of the breast
become apparent?
In the first few days after surgery, the implants may appear higher than normal, resulting in an exaggerated appearance of the cleavage area. As the muscles relax and the skin softens over the following days, the implants gradually descend, and the breasts begin to take shape. The general shape of the breast will start to become apparent within approximately 1 month.
Can breast augmentation surgery be
performed on asymmetric breasts?
There is always some degree of difference in size and sagging between breasts. In such cases, different sized or shaped implants are used based on the patient's desires, and efforts are made to achieve a symmetric appearance.
Does breast augmentation surgery
affect breastfeeding?
Breast implants do not affect breast functions in the future. Patients can become pregnant and breastfeed their babies without any concerns. The function of breastfeeding is not affected. However, the shape of the breast may change after pregnancy and breastfeeding. Further surgery may be required in the future.
Can breast implants cause cancer?
Breast implants do not pose an additional risk for breast cancer; the risk is the same as that of normal breast tissue. If such a situation arises, the treatment process for cancer in a breast with implants is managed in the same standard manner as for other breast cancers. A rare type of cancer associated with implants has been identified. However, this type of cancer does not spread like other breast cancers, and its treatment involves removing the implant.
Can breast implants rupture?
The rupture incident, known as implant rupture, is a very rare occurrence. It usually occurs after very strong traumas, such as traffic accidents or falls from heights. Sometimes, it can occur after penetrating injuries. It is not very likely to encounter implant rupture in daily life. In case of suspicion, evaluation can be performed using imaging methods such as mammography, ultrasound, and MRI.
What is capsular contracture?
After breast augmentation surgeries, a connective tissue layer called a capsule forms around the implant, which is foreign to the body. In most patients, a thin capsule forms, causing no complaints. This is a natural process in the body. In some rare cases, this capsule may be thicker than it should be, leading to hardening and contraction in the breast. In such cases, it is necessary to remove the implant and clean the capsule.

BUTTOCK AUGMENTATION
All surgical procedures involving intervention in the hips and buttocks are defined as buttock augmentation. The goal of this operation is to shape the buttocks, increase volume if insufficient, reduce excess in the hips, create a hollowed waist, slim it down, and ultimately enhance the definition of the buttocks. Following buttock shaping surgery, the buttocks will have a tighter, rounder, lifted, and more contoured appearance. The surgical method to be applied to the buttocks is determined by mutual agreement between the plastic surgeon and the patient, taking into account the patient's body type and structural characteristics.
What are the surgical methods in
buttock augmentation?
Buttock implants, buttock lift surgery, buttock reduction surgery, and BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift).
In which patients are buttock
implants preferred?
If the patient is thin and does not have sufficient fat reserves in their body to shape the buttocks, if the fat obtained will not provide the desired fullness in the buttocks, or if a more permanent and long-lasting effect is desired, silicone implants are preferred. After the implantation, the buttocks will appear more protruded and higher.
When is buttock lift surgery
preferred and how is it performed?
It is generally preferred in patients who have lost excessive weight. In these individuals, there is a decrease in subcutaneous fat tissue and sagging of the skin. In such patients, a certain amount of skin is removed from the lower abdomen, waist, and upper buttocks, shaping the abdomen and lifting the buttocks upwards. This results in more pronounced and lifted buttock contours.
Is buttock reduction surgery
possible, and in whom is it preferred?
Not every buttock shaping procedure involves increasing the size of the buttocks. Buttock reduction surgery is preferred in individuals who have structurally large buttocks due to excessive weight gain. Liposuction is usually performed. This allows for reshaping and reduction of the buttocks.
What is BBL?
It has become quite common in recent years. Excess fat in areas such as the abdomen, waist, back, and hips is collected through liposuction, processed, and then injected into the areas of the buttocks where shaping is needed. This procedure is called the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). After this surgery, the buttocks become fuller and rounder.
Are there risks associated with BBL
surgery?
The buttocks are a region rich in muscle tissue, so the blood vessels are also quite dense. Unlike fat transfer procedures to other parts of the body, a large volume of fat transfer is performed during BBL surgery. If this fat enters the damaged vessels during the procedure, it can enter the bloodstream. This can result in embolism and thrombosis, leading to organ failure. To minimize this risk, the fat should be injected into the subcutaneous tissue; it should never be injected into or under the muscle.
Is the result of BBL surgery
permanent?
In this surgery, adipose tissue is used to shape the buttocks. Some of the transferred fat may dissolve after the procedure. Therefore, more fat is transferred during the procedure than is needed. While some fat may dissolve, the remaining portion is permanent.
How long does buttock augmentation
surgery take?
The duration of this surgery varies depending on the surgical method used. However, it generally takes between 2-3 hours.
What is the surgical process like?
Buttock augmentation surgery is performed under general anesthesia in an operating room at the hospital. The surgical method to be used is determined based on the patient's desires and expectations. The operation is then performed according to the chosen surgical procedure.
What should be paid attention to
after the operation?
The postoperative process varies depending on the surgical technique chosen for the operation. Generally, staying overnight in the hospital is sufficient after the operation. A special compression garment is worn after the operation, and it should be worn for 4 weeks. Difficulty in movement may be experienced for a few days after the operation. If BBL surgery is chosen, it is recommended to place a special sponge called a BBL cushion under the thighs to avoid direct pressure on the buttocks while sitting for 4 weeks after the operation. Swelling and bruising in the early postoperative period are normal and will disappear within 1-2 weeks. Walking is important from the early stages after the operation. Active exercise is not recommended for the first month after the operation, and heavy exercises can be performed after the second month.
Can buttock augmentation surgery be
performed on men?
Buttock augmentation is commonly preferred among women. However, there is no objection to performing it in male patients who have flat and thin buttocks if desired.
Can BBL surgery be repeated?
To achieve more permanent results and to perform surgery within safer limits, it is recommended to have 2 sessions. Because performing a high-volume fat injection in a single session is quite risky and should not be done. If there are no conditions preventing surgery, the second operation can be performed 3 months after the first.
Is BBL surgery painful?
Generally, the pain is minimal. Rather than pain, a feeling of tension and pressure is more uncomfortable.

GENITAL AESTHETIC
Shape abnormalities in the female genital area can be attributed to genetic factors as well as reasons such as childbirth, excessive weight loss, etc. These abnormalities include the labia being larger than normal, vaginal laxity, and enlargement of the clitoris.
LABIOPLASTY
Sagging, asymmetric, or abnormally large or small inner and outer labia at the vaginal entrance can cause hygiene and sexual intercourse difficulties for individuals. Surgery performed to correct these deformities, which also affect the patient's daily life and psychology, is called labioplasty.
What is the surgical process like?
Labioplasty surgery is performed under local, regional, or general anesthesia in the operating room environment of the hospital. This procedure usually takes about 1 hour. In these surgeries, hypertrophic and asymmetric-looking genital labia are usually made smaller and more symmetrical. In some patients, the labia may have lost volume and elasticity. In the surgery of these patients, fat tissues or filler materials taken from another part of the body are used to restore volume and shape to the labia.
What should be paid attention to
after the surgery?
Patients are discharged from the hospital on the same day or the next day after the surgery. Generally, it is not recommended to wear very tight underwear and stiff clothing for 15 days. Care should be taken to avoid trauma to the area while sitting or lying down. Usually, taking a shower for 3 days is not recommended. Generally, absorbable suture materials are used, and there is no need to remove the sutures.
When can sexual intercourse be
resumed after the surgery?
Generally, sexual intercourse is not recommended for about a month after this surgery.
Can individuals with no prior
sexual experience undergo this surgery?
In labioplasty surgery, the inner
and outer labia are reshaped. Whether the person has had prior sexual
experience is not important.

CORRECTION OF GYNECOMASTIA
Surgical Difficulty
Gynecomastia refers to the enlargement of breast tissue resulting in a female-like breast appearance in males, which can occur due to genetic, hormonal disorders, various diseases, excessive alcohol consumption, obesity, or medication use. Men with gynecomastia often experience issues related to self-confidence, posture, and may need to change their clothing style due to psychosocial problems. The cause of gynecomastia should be thoroughly investigated, and consultations from other departments (Endocrinology, Urology) may be requested if necessary. Once the underlying cause is determined, surgical planning is initiated.
What are the stages of
gynecomastia?
There are many classifications for gynecomastia, but fundamentally, there are three stages. In the first stage, there is limited growth and deformation that can be closely noticed. In the second stage, the breasts are larger and more noticeable in size from a distance, but there is no sagging. In the third stage, along with breast growth, sagging is present.
What is the surgical process like?
Gynecomastia can develop due to enlargement of fat tissue, breast gland tissue, or both fat and breast gland tissue. In cases where gynecomastia is caused by fat tissue, liposuction alone is sufficient, while in other cases, excessive fat and breast tissues need to be removed through a semicircular incision made around the nipple. If there is excess skin along with fat and breast tissue, simultaneous skin excision may also be performed. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia in hospital conditions and, depending on the procedure, typically lasts between 1-2 hours. An overnight stay in the hospital is recommended, and discharge is planned for the next day.
What should be observed after the
surgery?
Temporary swelling and bruising in the breast may occur within 2-4 weeks after gynecomastia surgery. It is recommended to rest for 2-3 days after the surgery and to avoid movements of the arms and shoulders. Heavy exercises and lifting heavy weights should be avoided for about a month post-surgery. Wearing a compression garment is recommended for approximately 1 month after surgery.
Will there be scars after
gynecomastia surgery?
In surgeries performed using liposuction and around the nipple, the healing process is usually excellent, and the scars become almost imperceptible after 2-3 months. However, in patients with excess skin, the size and visibility of the scars may be greater due to the different surgical techniques applied.
Can gynecomastia recur in the
future?
If the cause of gynecomastia is only fat tissue, it may recur suddenly with rapid weight gain or loss. However, if the cause is breast tissue, since this tissue is surgically removed, the likelihood of recurrence is quite low. There is a high probability of recurrence in patients using hormones due to gender transition.
At what age can gynecomastia
surgery be performed?
Gynecomastia is not always pathological and may occur physiologically in certain periods. These periods include newborn, adolescent, and elderly stages. Gynecomastia occurring in newborns and adolescents does not require intervention and usually resolves spontaneously. Any healthy male with gynecomastia problems outside of these periods can undergo surgery.
What are the prices for
gynecomastia surgery in Istanbul/Turkey?
The prices for gynecomastia surgery are influenced by various factors. These include the surgical technique used, whether additional materials are used during surgery, hospitalization, hospital fees, and may vary according to the doctor's requirements. The first step to obtain price information for this surgery is to contact a specialist doctor in this field.

Thigh Lift Surgery
What is thigh lift surgery?
Thigh lift surgery, also known as thighplasty, addresses sagging and contour irregularities of the thigh skin, which can occur due to factors such as aging, genetics, and fluctuations in weight. Additionally, changes in the subcutaneous fat tissue can lead to excess or deficient thigh skin. Depending on the degree of deformity, patients may undergo liposuction, thigh lift surgery, or a combination of both procedures. If the skin elasticity is deemed sufficient, only liposuction for shaping purposes may be performed to avoid aggressive procedures. However, if the main issue is excess skin and skin sagging, the surplus skin must be removed through thigh lift surgery.
Who is eligible for thigh lift
surgery?
Thigh skin sagging due to rapid weight gain or loss can lead to discomfort for patients, including issues like chafing, dermatitis, and difficulty wearing skirts or shorts. Patients experiencing these complaints may benefit from thigh lift surgery.
What is the surgical process like?
The operation is performed under general or spinal anesthesia in a hospital setting. The procedure typically lasts around 1-2 hours. Excess and sagging skin and subcutaneous fat tissue are removed through incisions made on the inner thighs towards the groin area. The skin and subcutaneous tissue are then closed again according to the principles of plastic surgery. An overnight hospital stay is recommended following the procedure.
What are the risks associated with
thigh lift surgery?
Risks associated with thigh lift surgery include wound dehiscence, infection, bleeding, hematoma, impaired or prominent scarring, and asymmetry. Therefore, it is crucial for the surgery to be performed by skilled hands, and post-operative recommendations should be carefully followed.
Will there be visible scars after
thigh lift surgery?
In most cases, the surgical scars are concealed on the inner thighs to minimize their visibility from the outside. However, patients should be informed that some degree of scarring may occur after the surgery. The thigh area is under greater tension and is more mobile, making it a less favorable area for scar healing.
What should be observed
post-operatively?
Patients should avoid standing for extended periods, exercise, and sports for 2 weeks after thigh lift surgery. Compression garments or pressure dressings may be applied to reduce swelling, edema, and bleeding that may occur in the surgical area. Dissolvable stitches are usually used, and stitch removal is not required.
When will the full results of thigh
lift surgery be visible?
After this surgery, swelling is typically observed due to edema. Massaging can be performed to facilitate faster resolution of edema. However, massage should be performed professionally and consciously. The thighs usually return to their normal state within an average of 6 months. Sometimes this process may extend up to one year.
Can sports be performed after thigh
lift surgery?
Early post-operative light walking is recommended for recovery. However, heavy exercises at the gym should be avoided for 2-3 months.

Arm Lift Surgery
What is arm lift surgery?
For some individuals, factors such as age, genetics, and fluctuations in weight can lead to a decrease in skin elasticity over time, resulting in sagging and contour irregularities of the arms. In such cases, liposuction, arm lift surgery, or a combination of both procedures may be recommended to reshape the arms. Liposuction of the arms is particularly effective for localized fat accumulation on the outer upper arm and above the elbow. Arm lift surgery, on the other hand, is a procedure performed on individuals with lost elasticity and sagging skin, involving the removal of excess and sagging skin.
What is the surgical process like?
The operation is conducted under general anesthesia in a hospital setting. The procedure typically lasts around 1-2 hours. Incisions are made on the inner sides of the arms towards the armpits, and excess and sagging skin and subcutaneous fat tissue are removed. Subsequently, the skin and subcutaneous tissue are closed according to plastic surgery principles. The surgical scars are usually hidden on the inner side of the arms to minimize their visibility from the outside.
Are there risks associated with arm
lift surgery?
Like all surgical procedures, arm lift surgery carries some risks. Risks include bleeding, poor scarring, infection, and nerve damage. The risk of bleeding is generally low and is closely related to the experience of the surgeon performing the operation. Antibiotic use is typically recommended post-operatively, along with instructions for wound care. With careful adherence to these recommendations, the risk of infection is minimal. Temporary nerve damage leading to regional sensory loss may occur, but this process is usually transient. With meticulous post-operative care, scar healing is optimized, resulting in less noticeable scars.
Will there be visible scars after
arm lift surgery?
As with any surgery, arm lift surgery results in scars. However, in this procedure, the scars are hidden on the inner side of the arms to minimize their visibility. The scars are not visible in the normal arm position but may be visible when the arms are lifted upward. Initially, the scars may be more prominent, but they tend to become less noticeable over time.
What should be observed
post-operatively?
To reduce swelling, edema, and bleeding in the surgical area, compression bandages are applied. Wearing a compression garment is recommended for about a month post-operatively. There is no need for stitch removal as dissolvable stitches are used. Sensations of tightness may be experienced in the early post-operative period but will normalize over time. Keeping the arms elevated in the early post-operative days is beneficial for reducing swelling.
Can sports be performed after arm
lift surgery?
Engaging in exercises and sports activities that heavily involve the arms is prohibited for the first 2 months post-operatively.
When will the best results of arm
lift surgery be visible?
After this surgery, swelling may occur, which needs to resolve for the final results to be apparent. This process typically takes about 4-6 months.

Liposuction
Liposuction is a surgical procedure
in which excess fat deposits in specific areas of the body are removed through
vacuum or suction devices. Liposuction removes volume-enlarged fat tissue that
is resistant to diet and exercise. Additionally, the total number of fat cells
is reduced. Liposuction should not be performed for weight loss purposes but
rather for body contouring.
Who is it for?
In a normal adult, the number of
fat cells does not increase after adolescence, but the volume of fat cells
does. This results in weight gain. To lose this weight, diet and exercise are
necessary. However, even individuals who exercise and diet may have stubborn
fat accumulations that do not disappear. Areas such as the abdomen, waist,
hips, outer and inner thighs are resistant to diet and exercise. Extreme
dieting and exercising to slim down these areas can disrupt overall metabolism.
Liposuction surgeries are the most effective method to eliminate stubborn fat
deposits in these areas.
What is the surgical process like?
Liposuction surgery is performed in
a hospital setting under general anesthesia. Local anesthesia may be used for
small area applications. The duration of the surgery can vary from 1 to 4 hours
depending on the size of the treatment area and the patient's anatomical
structure. Small incisions of approximately 0.5 cm are made, and special
cannulas are used for the procedure. Excess fat is removed using the vacuum
method. After the procedure, the incisions are closed with absorbable suture
materials. In cases of liposuction in larger areas, thin tubes (drains) are
placed through the cannula holes to drain any accumulated blood and fluid, and
these are usually removed 1-2 days later. Depending on the size of the
operation area and the patient's overall condition, discharge from the hospital
is planned for the next day.
What is the post-operative process
like?
To prevent infection, antibiotics
and pain relievers are prescribed after surgery. Compression garments are worn
to reduce bleeding and fluid accumulation, support shaping, and tighten the
skin. In the areas where liposuction is performed, there may be swelling,
bruising, tingling, and burning sensation, which typically subside within 1-2
weeks.
Will there be scars after
liposuction?
Incisions made for liposuction
cannulas are initially visible but become less noticeable after 3-6 months.
Can liposuction be performed on the
entire body?
Liposuction can be performed on
various areas of the body where excess fat accumulates, including under the
chin, cheeks, neck, upper arms, breasts, chest, abdomen, waist, hips, outer and
inner thighs, inner knees, and calves.
How much fat can be removed during
liposuction?
Approximately 4-5 liters of fat can
be removed without disrupting the patient's hemostatic balance and body
functions. However, with adequate fluid and blood support, it is possible to
remove more fat.
Can liposuction be repeated?
For the best results after surgery,
patients are advised to follow a diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes. Failure
to adhere to these recommendations may result in re-accumulation of fat, albeit
not as much as before. In such cases, the surgery can be repeated 3-6 months
later.
What is Vaser liposuction?
Vaser devices use ultrasonic waves
to make the fat under the skin thinner. These devices are also highly effective
in body contouring surgeries such as achieving two-pack abs in women and
six-pack abs in men. Moreover, they minimize the risk of rippling appearance,
which is an unwanted outcome of liposuction surgeries.
What is laser liposuction surgery?
Laser devices use heat energy to
enhance long-term healing and skin tightening. They are used in areas prone to
sagging after surgery, such as the lower abdomen, under the chin, inner arms,
and inner thighs. Laser liposuction is typically combined with liposuction
procedures.
Can fat removed after liposuction
be used in other areas?
Fat removed for body contouring
purposes can be reused for the same purpose. For this purpose, the fat should
be collected in special containers and undergo certain procedures. It is
commonly used for buttock shaping, facial and hand rejuvenation, and breast
augmentation. These surgeries have become quite common in recent years.
Will there be irregularities in the
skin after liposuction surgery?
This is the most unwanted result of
this surgery. The goal is to minimize this potential complication. During the
surgery, fat tissue between the skin and muscles is removed in a controlled
manner. After the surgery, the skin reattaches to the underlying muscle tissue.
It is important to ensure that this attachment is smooth. Removing superficial
fat tissue more restrictively makes this attachment more regular. Additionally,
wearing compression garments, regular lymphatic drainage massages, avoiding factors
that disrupt healing such as smoking, and combining procedures with devices
such as vaser/laser are highly effective in minimizing this risk.
When can exercise be resumed after
liposuction?
Walking can begin in the early
post-operative period. Light exercises can start after the first month, and
more strenuous exercises can begin after the second month.
Is liposuction suitable for
everyone?
Liposuction is not recommended for
individuals who are overweight, have conditions such as hypertension or heart
disease, rheumatic diseases, use blood thinners, are prone to clotting, or have
recently undergone surgery in the surgical area.

Mini Tummy Tuck
A mini tummy tuck is a surgical
procedure performed on individuals with good skin elasticity, no separation of
abdominal muscles, and localized excess skin in the lower abdominal area,
without altering the position of the navel.
What are the differences between a
mini tummy tuck and a full tummy tuck?
In a mini tummy tuck, only the
excess skin in the lower abdomen is removed over the abdominal muscles, without
touching the navel or the abdominal muscles. Since the navel is not touched,
there is no scar around it. The recovery process is much faster compared to a
full tummy tuck. Since the muscles are not manipulated, the pain is
significantly less. In patients with abdominal muscle separation due to
pregnancy and childbirth, a mini tummy tuck may not be sufficient, and a full
tummy tuck may be required due to the need for extensive muscle repair.
What is the surgical process like
for a mini tummy tuck?
A mini tummy tuck is performed
under general anesthesia in a hospital operating room. It typically takes one
to two hours. Excess fat and skin in the lower abdominal area are removed to
achieve a flatter abdomen. Patients are usually observed in the hospital
overnight after the surgery and discharged the next day.
Will there be scars after a mini
tummy tuck?
There will be a horizontal scar
that will remain within the confines of underwear. This scar will be quite
noticeable in the early stages. It will gradually approach the normal skin
color within an average of 6 months to 1 year. However, it will never completely
disappear.
What should be considered after a
mini tummy tuck surgery?
It is crucial to take medications
as prescribed after the surgery. Proper and timely wound care is essential to
prevent infection. Factors such as smoking, which negatively affect wound
healing, should be avoided. Since absorbable suture materials are used during
surgery, there is no need for suture removal. To minimize scar visibility,
exposure to sunlight should be limited. Mild dieting and exercise should be
followed to maintain the results.
